Texting and Driving is becoming an issue that we did not have to worry about 20 years ago. Drivers are constantly glued to their phones, even when they are operating a motor vehicle. Being glued to your phone has huge consequences for years upon years.
Physical Dangers
One of the most known risks is the fact that texting and driving increases the chance of a car accident. As a matter of fact, drivers are 23 times more likely to crash if they are texting while driving. Considering there are approximately 6 million car accidents in the U.S. each year, you don’t want to take that risk to text and drive. That text message can wait until you arrive at your destination.
Insurance
You do not want your family having to worry about life insurance because you were texting and driving. You want to start looking at life insurance policies because you’re older and established, not because you can’t put away your phone while driving. Also, getting a ticket for texting while driving can make your monthly rates skyrocket. Insurance companies get alerted for every ticket that you receive, and your rates will go up. Car insurance can already be a pricey monthly expense, you don’t want it to go up even more.
Hospital Bills
If you text and drive, you better hope you have great health insurance to help cover any future hospital bills. If you have group coverage, it will also affect everyone else in your family by increasing their rates as well. It is not worth it. Think about yourself and everyone else around you.
Texting and driving is deadly. Point blank. Stop and ask yourself, is this text message worth my life? Is it worth anyone else’s life? The answer will always be no. Pullover on the side of the road if you need to make a call or send a text. You will be glad you did.
