In Case of Fire: Race

Oct 29, 2013

In Case of Fire: RaceFires erupt quickly and without warning. No two fires are alike, so no plan can cover all situations. Yet, an overall management strategy and clear priorities can literally make the difference between life and death.

Experts suggest the acronym R.A.C.E. as a basis for action.

RESCUE: Rescue and/or remove anyone from immediate danger if it does not endanger your life.

ALARM: Alert the emergency officials by phone or pulling the fire alarm.

CONFINE: Confine the fire by closing doors and windows if they can safely be accessed.

EXTINGUISH or EVACUATE: Cautiously evaluate the situation to maintain a speedy, unobstructed evacuation route. Only then attempt to extinguish the fire if a fire extinguisher is available. Remember, most extinguishers will fully discharge quickly. Always position yourself for immediate evacuation.

Fires erupt quickly, and smoke and flames destroy in seconds. We can help replace property. Protection of life is always THE priority.
